Basically the same sort of diy <span style="text-align: center;">stuff I have typically done in the past over here like sewing, fashion, etsy stuff, building, baking and what not...</span><br />

This is my fourth child... people told me #4 is easiest - they lie. I should be a pro with number 4 but sadly, I am not... With that said, we have had a lot of good friends and family come visit the new baby and help me keep the fam happy - I feel so lucky to have such a amazing people in my life. One of my many guests left this on one of my message boards, not sure who but I am truly blessed... and LOVED! :)<br />

<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">Part 2 of Standing in Holy Places for Young Women's Camp, with white and grey backgrounds. Possible sweatshirt colors. Last year we did black, white is not very camp friendly, so I am wondering how the girls might like it in a grey. These are the colors they are really loving this year... Which had me thinking about an idea I saw a good friend do a few years ago, and that was finding a book with a cool title, then ripping pages, adding scrapbook paper, and inserting photos...<br />
<br />
I am not a scrapbook-er, REPEAT, I cannot scrapbook to save my life and have given up years ago after many, many failed attempts. However, I like to have easy access to photos and I love the idea of picture albums and scrapbooks. I love journals, memorabilia, recipes, inspiration notebooks AND I love the look of a real book. There is definitely an organic feel that a bound book can offer, you know? It would be neat to have books around my house with spunky titles and easy enjoyment for the eyes.<br />
<br />
So here's a quick ans simple tutorial for these "scrapped books"...<br />
<br />
Materials:<br />
<ul>
<li>cheap book</li>
<li>decorative/scrapbook paper</li>
<li>scissors</li>
<li>glue stick, acid free</li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
1. Go to the Dollar store, find a book with a fun title, and neat cover/binding details. Sometimes you have to remove the paper cover/sleeve and check out what's underneath.<br />
<br />
May I add, stay away from classic titles or vintage books, it would be like swearing at church. Classics should be read and cherished and vintage books are rare and one of a kind! Put the razor down and find a new book.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7XtKFxi8-n3KCiXil6HOHKm-pN3A8hvKMBkVzWHKipqAZaCGX00uJyRl50osV-LKQatoSgKxQtet6IGVEW0T-mUkyMwmROrY2Ly2z-wde512zJk2EpBj9nYpf4xqRaJSCi98E4NkMzp4/s1600/Stack+of+Books.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7XtKFxi8-n3KCiXil6HOHKm-pN3A8hvKMBkVzWHKipqAZaCGX00uJyRl50osV-LKQatoSgKxQtet6IGVEW0T-mUkyMwmROrY2Ly2z-wde512zJk2EpBj9nYpf4xqRaJSCi98E4NkMzp4/s400/Stack+of+Books.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
2. Rip out pages! I use an Exacto knife and open the open and cut along the inside crease. I take out about 4-6 pages, leave 2 pages, remove 4-6 pages, leave 2 pages, and repeat, repeat, repeat through the rest of the book. Save that paper. There are a lot of crafts you can find online to use the papers you are taking out - waste not! The book will start to look really empty but that's okay, remember that you are filling it back up with goodies!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYD6WXDDes7TIAbiw_1cEV3irUwCzs8QHNVKjNLcF3vfRy9jF5vjS07v0yh5j7Yrg9A51t7-pJZCmrMhyznmj9-vnu-Gykl91Saxk4UTsWyaIXBMTjQSbJlWpqGglNsM8wyAUFHe5Apdg/s1600/DSC07197.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYD6WXDDes7TIAbiw_1cEV3irUwCzs8QHNVKjNLcF3vfRy9jF5vjS07v0yh5j7Yrg9A51t7-pJZCmrMhyznmj9-vnu-Gykl91Saxk4UTsWyaIXBMTjQSbJlWpqGglNsM8wyAUFHe5Apdg/s640/DSC07197.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
3. The 2 pages you left, glue them together. This will help stabilize the pages.<br />
<br />
4. Measure and cut your scrapbook paper to almost match the surface you will be gluing to... so, if the page is 5" (width) by 7" (height), I would measure 4 3/5" (width) by 7" (height). If you don't, the pages kind of fight with each other in the cracks. This was the annoying part... lot's and lot's of cutting.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU1ziBUpk5q2C_pFjTsgIop5wzRe132pm_ThyphenhyphentNMmqmJLrrJE7lOO4mIbApRZNCV381v-XYsUO-twv3lB0t4IxW3INMqEijHzNXhsXt4bAIq5yFmWFfrsfrtgD0pomVlzsQJPBazQVHEo/s1600/DSC07198.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiU1ziBUpk5q2C_pFjTsgIop5wzRe132pm_ThyphenhyphentNMmqmJLrrJE7lOO4mIbApRZNCV381v-XYsUO-twv3lB0t4IxW3INMqEijHzNXhsXt4bAIq5yFmWFfrsfrtgD0pomVlzsQJPBazQVHEo/s640/DSC07198.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
5. Glue. Apply adhesive all over the book page and the back of your decorative paper and attach together. Do that to each side of the pages you made in your book.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipwB2VqzvQl_PHZAfPx0tNKfoP2Dr8xAvf-4L9JFEuo_QL4EpfVmZCPN3gBdnC9JB7JxoWRaZTPQs-I46abFUcMWfuHM299bb_jZ0u1neT2wLAyBwskc0i4bO1suJYzZt_bK7y5XgPaZw/s1600/DSC07198with+glue+notes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="427" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipwB2VqzvQl_PHZAfPx0tNKfoP2Dr8xAvf-4L9JFEuo_QL4EpfVmZCPN3gBdnC9JB7JxoWRaZTPQs-I46abFUcMWfuHM299bb_jZ0u1neT2wLAyBwskc0i4bO1suJYzZt_bK7y5XgPaZw/s640/DSC07198with+glue+notes.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
6. Put stuff in your book! Originally for photos, this could also make a great journal, book to hold recipes, your favorite thoughts, a source to keep inspiration in one place,<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Gross, right? Canned vegetables never taste quite right.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I have tried many ways to puree those cute pie pumpkins you get from the store. Boiling or baking in the oven techniques take forever and are messy. Recently I started steaming all my vegetables... it's so quick and easy to steam, I don't know why I haven't tried this sooner! So, I gave my pumpkins a try and threw them in the steamer, and I will never go back to my former methods. There's an added bonus, your house smells like pumpkin and since it's fall, it totally works!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Here's my 2 reasons to steam your veggies...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">1. Nutritious - Other methods like boiling, grilling, broiling, frying, and sauteing are not great, because these can strip off the nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants from the vegetables.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">2. Flavorful - enough said! If you are going eat the veggies, they NEED to taste good.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">**Note, not all vegetables steam equally... Tomatoes would be a poor choice to steam because it has the opposite effect. But stuff like broccoli, asparagus, carrots, cauliflower, pumpkin, and etc LOVE to be steamed.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">So instead of buying that yucky can of pumpkin puree, steam it! </span><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: large;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace; font-size: large;">Here's how</span></b><span style="font-family: inherit;">:</span><br />
<br />
<h3>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Cut the pumpkin in half with a sharp chef's knife and use a large metal spoon to remove the seeds and stringy innards from the pumpkin halves.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Chop the pumpkin flesh into </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">squares</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"> or slices.</span></span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Set a steamer basket into a large pot and fill the pot with water until the water just touches the bottom of the basket.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Place the pumpkin in the steamer basket and set the lid on the pot.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Turn the stove's burner to medium heat and bring the water to a boil.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Reduce the heat and simmer the water for about 25 minutes or until the pumpkin flesh is tender.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">The pumpkin will be soft when cooked. </span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Remove the steamer basket from the pot and let cool.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Once cooled, remove cooked meat from the pumpkin skin.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Puree the mixture with a stick blender or potato masher.</span></span></li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li><span style="font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: small;">Measure and use in recipe. Freeze excess or be creative and use elsewhere!</span></span></li>
</ul>
</h3>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Pumpkin puree can be used in a variety of recipes. I will throw it in my kid's oatmeal and pancakes with a dash of pumpkin pie spice. Freeze it and use through out the year if desired! But avoid the carving pumpkins as they have less flesh, more seeds, and barely any flavor compared to the small cooking pumpkins.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>

<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I made up this pattern for my daughter and it's SO EASY that I had to share it with you all! AND it requires NO sewing and takes less than 15 minutes to whip up! All you need is stretchy JERSEY fabric or fleece for extra warmth, something to tie around your waist, scissors, and a safety pin or two or three..! :)</div>
<br />
Let's start with the cape:<br />
Step one, measure the distance between the shoulder line and the floor, then times that by 2. My daughter has about 30 inches between the top of her shoulder to the floor line, so I doubled that amount and got 60. Step one will give you the length you need to buy for your fabric.<br />
<br />
Step two, spread arms apart (like the letter "T") and measure the distance between wrist to wrist. That's how wide the fabric must be in order to drape over her arms.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgtrlQ421CCJoYiywgl5uHAO1SeO8BehVFjTykg_kZlmgKf6xtieHb1swhV0WnJfCLu3koIfKdNQQRvI-YievKaWxo6hPC5jjE9Hgdlq9y6PiQYC4ZUClUREyckJ0phEAy9Og7sYr28JM/s1600/step+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="341" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgtrlQ421CCJoYiywgl5uHAO1SeO8BehVFjTykg_kZlmgKf6xtieHb1swhV0WnJfCLu3koIfKdNQQRvI-YievKaWxo6hPC5jjE9Hgdlq9y6PiQYC4ZUClUREyckJ0phEAy9Og7sYr28JM/s400/step+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Step 3, cut lengthwise through the center of the fabric and stop half way.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguieb8HnD9p0Mk60Um-4KS90UTcfH0wKZQdACmLdIJG3TKQOvAeTfcyVcn2zJhv4bs-0Oaea0qb4uBaWsGk-6AA466lTRgcD0R_mKnX1wd1n-9lT6Nclljul7Oqv7jsqDVizksRm5iNA8/s1600/Untitled-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguieb8HnD9p0Mk60Um-4KS90UTcfH0wKZQdACmLdIJG3TKQOvAeTfcyVcn2zJhv4bs-0Oaea0qb4uBaWsGk-6AA466lTRgcD0R_mKnX1wd1n-9lT6Nclljul7Oqv7jsqDVizksRm5iNA8/s400/Untitled-2.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Step 4, cut long slashed along the outer edge of your fabric and gently tug on the strands to give a stringy look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhomjfqKPgPd5ZAyefUyac21Iz87npuMS8Q_HXdNJOpeMxrhJQaOUoz4haAqTjSzfL0XIjk-URTgcyiL1Ct4-7yVSSb-7Bm0vzS6WSln-A2sV178UirpOZ52KRIaP0IYaNB2uMtgUzu_9c/s1600/hhhh.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiedUjNHbDdbvaSJ9yvuFC7kbW0FYAwfIOnQty3VBNNliHPKHW1zrdt5WqlgO7W12T8JRk-0VF7kz_iNASm9su_53xOxQQR_rxrsXZTYiTdYJXKqPyoasFcj4Zj_dDT3GiwMyqHwo6M-xY/s1600/Untitled-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiedUjNHbDdbvaSJ9yvuFC7kbW0FYAwfIOnQty3VBNNliHPKHW1zrdt5WqlgO7W12T8JRk-0VF7kz_iNASm9su_53xOxQQR_rxrsXZTYiTdYJXKqPyoasFcj4Zj_dDT3GiwMyqHwo6M-xY/s400/Untitled-3.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRjQBAuwV3O4IoHfHcKqJxvLbylrrXQgx9LP50xDtlZv5mmMXH7eizqFZyEYWzX591yrOMO50hPA9kjp_VVLRqK9KBrDV9o8ZZfHHT5Uue7nb4ts1ZUiwrYX_8qGVdHWIsgFy4VCtnlpA/s1600/Untitled-6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRjQBAuwV3O4IoHfHcKqJxvLbylrrXQgx9LP50xDtlZv5mmMXH7eizqFZyEYWzX591yrOMO50hPA9kjp_VVLRqK9KBrDV9o8ZZfHHT5Uue7nb4ts1ZUiwrYX_8qGVdHWIsgFy4VCtnlpA/s320/Untitled-6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
C'est Voila! Layer over black clothing and you have your witches cape. From there you can belt it with any rope, cording, belt, or ribbon laying around.<br />
<br />
Want to go one step further?<br />
Add a second piece of fabric under this cape. I used the same lengthwise measurement from step one BUT kept the width a little wider than shoulder length - so not nearly as wide as the wrist to wrist length in step 2. With this piece, I cut a hole (more like a slit) wide enough for my daughter's head to fit through along the shoulder line. Safety pin ribbon, rope, or etc to the back waistline to prevent slippage as you tie your your belt across your dress and cape.<br />
<br />
<br />

I like pinning on the under layer and tying around the bodice with the front of the cape. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Every Thursday of every week, my daughters and I make something together in the kitchen. I TRY very hard to let them be in charge of the whole process and they LOVE every minute, we have been on a pumpkin kick lately and have been finding new ways to use our sugar pie pumpkins instead of pumpkin in a can (gross!). <u><a href="http://www.twopeasandtheirpod.com/pumpkin-gingersnap-cookies/">Two Peas and Their Pod</a></u> shares a great recipe on their site. This was a great recipe for the kids to hep make and quite simple EXCEPT the "put cookie dough in fridge for 3 days before using". That would have been a little too brutal for my girls and so we baked a few the first day and the rest 3 days later. Baking on the first day would not be my recommendation for future users of the recipe, wait the 3 days - you'll thank me for it! As for the cookies themselves? SUPER YUMMY!<br />
<br />
ps - your house will smell fall-ishly divine!</div>

While searching for the best pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, I found <u><a href="http://best.berkeley.edu/~jen/food.html">Jennifer Wang</a></u>. I have to admit, I am a little jealous of her awesome SKILLS! She is super smart, studies in Engineering, Science, and Math Education at UC Berkeley. She cooks, makes music, great with kids, and is artistic... if, I didn't know better, this could be my husband's dream girl. She is amazing and on her food tab, there are TONS of yummy recipes she shares. It's a great place that I would LOVE to visit more often. Anyways, while impressed with her background check, I decided to give her cookies a try. They ARE indeed yummy and super easy!<br />

After a failed blogging quest... (note: those <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/516365913495237084/">pink brownies from pinterest</a> are gross. The recipe I found was 2 eggs, 1/3 cup oil, mix, and bake at 350 for 15 minutes. It was not good for us and tasted terrible. Maybe someone else had better luck and a different recipe??)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had my hubby help me add the "pin it" button to my posts without having to do anything weird to my blog and afterwards, we watched this... </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hope you find it as funny as I did... </div>

I have always considered myself "bread making challenged". I have totally sucked at it with each attempt until recently... I did watch a few tutorials online about how to make bread, and reading posts, and then happened upon this tutorial from Jessica at <u><a href="http://finditloveitshareit.blogspot.com/2011/10/honey-whole-wheat-bread.html#comment-form">Find It, Love It, Share It</a></u>. There, she shows you how to make this super easy and crazy yummy bread! I have been making this recipe for the last 2 months and have had success EACH time! I have tried it with store bought wheat and grind it yourself wheat and it's always a winner and dare I say... fun to make!<br />

<b>Honey Whole Wheat Bread</b><br />
Ingredients:<br />
<ul>
<li>3 tablespoons yeast</li>
<li>4 cups really warm water</li>
<li>1/2-3/4 cup honey</li>
<li>10-11 1/2 cups whole grain wheat flour</li>
<li>3 teaspoons sea salt</li>
<li>1/4-1 cup anything else you would like: oats, ground flax seeds, sunflower seeds, etc. </li>
<li>cooking spray</li>
</ul>
<br />
Directions:<br />
<ol>
<li>Add yeast, water, and honey then gently mix.</li>
<li> Let rest for 5 minutes until yeast foams.</li>
<li>Then add flour.</li>
<li>Then add salt and anything else, if you choose to.</li>
<li>Then gently mix again just until the salt or other ingredients are mixed in.</li>
<li>Knead for 4-6 minutes. Add just enough flour that the dough pulls away from the bowl. </li>
<li>Let dough rise for 15 minutes.</li>
<li>Spray the back of your hands with cooking spray and punch down the dough really well.</li>
<li>Form into loafs, this will make 3 smaller sized loafs. Put into greased loaf pans. Two larger loafs for toast and sandwiches and one smaller loaf for snacking.</li>
<li>Let rise in pans for 30 minutes.</li>
<li>Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. I like to put a large glass baking dish filled with water on the lower rack.</li>
<li>Remove from pans immediately and let cool on a cooling rack.</li>
</ol>
<br />
Optional: Jessica mentions putting water in large baking dish and putting it on a lower rack of the oven while baking, assuming this would help the bread bake better. I have never tried it and have always overlooked this suggestion. The bread bakes fine without it and I still LOVE IT! Although, I am curious to try it now!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://finditloveitshareit.blogspot.com/2011/10/honey-whole-wheat-bread.html#comment-form" style="font-weight: bold;">GO TO HER SITE </a> for a more in depth tutorial and answers to many blogging questions. But, I thought it would be great to have a more simpler to read recipe on my blog so I wouldn't have to scan through her pictures every time.<br />
<br />
<b><u>WARNING:</u></b> YES! There is a super BIG warning... once you make this a few times. You will hate store bought bread and will never be the same. We tried and it was so flimsy and cheap and unsatisfying and gross!!<br />
<br />

Since turning 30, I have noticed that when I miss exercising for a few weeks, my body let's me know about it with fierceness and I feel like crap and look very haggard. I have done the whole intense workouts in high school and in college back in the day when I was a competitive athlete and have been totally burnt out on exercising until recently.
<br />
With exercise on the brain this morning, I thought I would show my favorite workouts that I currently do and LOVE them or would LOVE to try.<br />
<br />
It would be rad to have a little work out series and be able to share all those links in one post, so I am presenting:<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV2PwgkRxB3fTX2O4nXGMdKaq-PEmxBDx18qU4ZwkrPCMLi3SMq62L8O8_X-o-8GL1J33ksRg2uTJ2fZg4kDMsm-Z5AHw2YC8SIksuQ1PQkmM_TCZ0l_a4_lBd08k4g4sPb3WfFZua_wA/s1600/WORK+IT+1+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV2PwgkRxB3fTX2O4nXGMdKaq-PEmxBDx18qU4ZwkrPCMLi3SMq62L8O8_X-o-8GL1J33ksRg2uTJ2fZg4kDMsm-Z5AHw2YC8SIksuQ1PQkmM_TCZ0l_a4_lBd08k4g4sPb3WfFZua_wA/s640/WORK+IT+1+.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />

<span style="text-align: center;">NOTE: I am no expert, nor am I an avid, crazy fitness guru. However, I like to be toned, wear cute clothes, and most importantly, I LOVE FOOD. So I gotta do something to burn those extra calorie, right? </span>Starting with:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Jackie Warner. I love this WORKOUT video, it's great!! I usually pick a segment that I feel like doing for the Day. The ab routine is awesome because I hate sit-ups and get bored very easily, she switches it up pretty nicely which I appreciate.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Workout-One-One-Training-Jackie/dp/B0015D20FY?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1208289329&sr=1-1"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEqGvfQW-Yb5KG_8a_4uxkm1-nQe_bUO6toEKjy6h0Tcx7UD2dW1yBwRjcKo_4q8DIyEBi1KvR_wwDOHNvMsKoPFVy6y_F-3Yt3nHYwUKgpygDYfvnAp3XYn73JT8WfVS_SQf3fZPj9Sw/s320/51LoKEdK1AL.jpg" width="213" /></a><span id="goog_905317356"></span><span id="goog_905317357"></span><a href="http://www.blogger.com/"></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since then, she has a <a href="http://jackiewarner.com/">new website</a> and has also come up with a lot of neat DVDs and books that I am very eager to try!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one is great because I get sick of listening to the same conversation from the videos </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and can listen to my own music and have a great time!</div>

I love BOWS and it's been a little obsession of mine for the last couple of years. I call it my "bow"session - dorky, right? Anyways, when done well, my eye is always drawn to it! So with this little fling of mine, I thought I would flaunt it a little more in my everyday wardrobe with this bow necklace.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's what ya need:</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;">Polymer clay (I used the color "marble"), </span><span style="text-align: start;">1 head pin, </span><span style="text-align: start;">1 jump ring, </span><span style="text-align: start;">decorative chain</span></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnpHslnb07THZiot-DN5dPRH7MiAjEkB2jBgPxWgD9l-ZdfABUu7B0x6EyVLoC8O5z1Gdbm4IqITuQzmCRLgFFA3yOjzBi4TaWiuFGgz0mjLszc46Dsedje5J0RLjvNO-uCZSxW_oqXXE/s1600/DSC06856.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnpHslnb07THZiot-DN5dPRH7MiAjEkB2jBgPxWgD9l-ZdfABUu7B0x6EyVLoC8O5z1Gdbm4IqITuQzmCRLgFFA3yOjzBi4TaWiuFGgz0mjLszc46Dsedje5J0RLjvNO-uCZSxW_oqXXE/s320/DSC06856.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Condition your clay. I used a pasta machine (specific for clay), but you can just use your hands. Work the clay and until it’s warm and is not crumbling. Then prepare your strips. I love this little gadget because it keeps my clay at a specific thickness but like I said, revert back to childhood and use a rolling pin or some sorts to make this strip for your bow. I wanted a REALLY large bow and used all my clay. Decide how large you want for your bow; the best part about this clay is that it's very forgiving and you can redo it many times until desired results are achieved! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I liked the width of my ruler shown below and used that as my guide. Afterwards, I moved it across the ribbon for added length. My ruler is about one inch wide and almost 18 inches in length, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
BUT you can choose whatever length desired! Remember to experiment with the previous steps a few times over to achieve desired results. If you make a mistake, start over - oh, the joys of working with clay!</div>

Take your head pin and insert into your bow center before baking the clay.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bake according to clay directions. Hold the head pin with round nosed pliers and keeping a little space above the top of your bow. Wrap the wire around one side of the round nosed pliers to make a loop. Trim the long end of the wire off at the top of the bead with wire cutters. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Did I confuse anyone? Here's a tutorial online about how to do this: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF3JOJ9HPhw&feature=related" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 19.983333587646484px; text-align: start;">MAKING LOOPS.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxh3FfiLjM_u1WugDNev6519h0FnFJzv5K6sNPf37hby2jwS8kyhffHQ5gOeYOVZvnY8Bmvxw_5Qa90Pv5ONuAGK_4olTfDdg5Cn6SOFpwF_aTfGcMc3t5QK47HYLmtGA9f557EPf4Ses/s1600/DSC06934.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxh3FfiLjM_u1WugDNev6519h0FnFJzv5K6sNPf37hby2jwS8kyhffHQ5gOeYOVZvnY8Bmvxw_5Qa90Pv5ONuAGK_4olTfDdg5Cn6SOFpwF_aTfGcMc3t5QK47HYLmtGA9f557EPf4Ses/s320/DSC06934.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I did attach a jump ring to my loop and then attached to my chain necklace. I wanted the bow move around when I moved. The jump ring would help the bow glide and adjust along the chain as needed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there you have it! It's a little large, but I LOVE it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So neat it would be to have many in different sizes and colors! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyways, I am excited to wear it all about!! :) </div>

This stuff from Trader Joe's is great. Sweet and slightly bitter... strangely, I cannot get enough. It's a seasonal winter item and I am stocking up this year (my big regret last fall)! However, there are some knock-offs out in there in the interweb, something I will consider to try when I run out of my stash.<br />
Future.... far, far in the future post, for sure!Rivahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07149263317229417784noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3492470587935466429.post-84891493959010185122012-10-16T01:11:00.000-07:002012-10-25T08:15:03.190-07:00Pop of Colour<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a class="pin-it-button" count-layout="horizontal" href="http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=http%3A%2F%2Funodostreschic.blogspot.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fpop-of-colour.html&media=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com%2F-sHMD-7kEAhk%2FUH1-x1rWKII%2FAAAAAAAABcc%2FnVpN0OkiTP8%2Fs400%2FNecklace.jpg&description=DIY%20Pop%20of%20Colour%20Necklace"><img border="0" src="//assets.pinterest.com/images/PinExt.png" title="Pin It" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have seen similar necklaces like this around the interwebs and my favorite places, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
now that fall is here it's especially such a fun time to play with color. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was SUPER easy to make and took less than 5 minutes to make.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So here's what you need:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: left;">Beads of preferred color (found mine at Michaels)</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Decorative Chain</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Bead Cording</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">2 crimp beads</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">2 jump rings</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Clasp/closure for necklace</li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxv5MGLpN7P94koJAl6Sut2TkATlKGbgI5ooNv5rh4PAuqw2cBYFzLiCfuQk3m4O1OxOKYF5x4PhOE-E6FRrbINMdefRlqK1xG53VZ-34v17c_3nLksXbmsmvBvknReMEQSbW9pgiz3U/s1600/DSC06811.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtxv5MGLpN7P94koJAl6Sut2TkATlKGbgI5ooNv5rh4PAuqw2cBYFzLiCfuQk3m4O1OxOKYF5x4PhOE-E6FRrbINMdefRlqK1xG53VZ-34v17c_3nLksXbmsmvBvknReMEQSbW9pgiz3U/s400/DSC06811.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Start by cutting a desired length of bead cording for your strand of beads.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Feed the cord through a crimp bead and then loop the cord through a jump ring. Feed the cord back through the crimp bead so it is looped around the jump ring.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Crimp the bead around the cording with flat nosed pliers.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDZnXbYnWe3HYtJAN6NAhfOS6bmtTa8sPL7vIkEbLpov1H7Bvfin2bE0W5uY0gXbHnxvQuP-xWkW9gJZh2OBtK8qsApQFrTYFr0Y7E0FPTf8Y8V9sjKYDhXNEMKsI9YLbIW0XNH_Z8FG8/s1600/DSC06815.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDZnXbYnWe3HYtJAN6NAhfOS6bmtTa8sPL7vIkEbLpov1H7Bvfin2bE0W5uY0gXbHnxvQuP-xWkW9gJZh2OBtK8qsApQFrTYFr0Y7E0FPTf8Y8V9sjKYDhXNEMKsI9YLbIW0XNH_Z8FG8/s400/DSC06815.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
Begin stringing the beads onto the cording.<br />
<br />
Feed the loose end of the cording through another crimp bead. Feed it through a jump ring and loop back into the crimp bead, just like you did on the other end.<br />
<br />
Crimp the bead closed and feed the short end through the first few beads to cover it.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB_Tc01RDVUStup7uQw-c2XrY8MLXSa3GuZsCm-vGM8Dj4Yb6SusUEFsJyljC8WrAnaavf-JtLlikT-v3-Gm2ZK5pa1tc_9cZYYy1W17MBaO5qAOZbwpB44HeAb6XAgAz6EEV_pqf4Mgc/s1600/DSC06820.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB_Tc01RDVUStup7uQw-c2XrY8MLXSa3GuZsCm-vGM8Dj4Yb6SusUEFsJyljC8WrAnaavf-JtLlikT-v3-Gm2ZK5pa1tc_9cZYYy1W17MBaO5qAOZbwpB44HeAb6XAgAz6EEV_pqf4Mgc/s400/DSC06820.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
Open the jump rings and attach each end of the chain.<br />
<br />
C'est Voila! Enjoy your new, bright and popping necklace - wear it often and love it.<br />
I have a grey top... somewhere, begging to be worn with this!<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had the wonderful honor of making her wedding gown! It was so fun to be able to collaborate and design this super classy and spunky dress with her. We spent HOURS and lost a few pounds walking around downtown LA finding the perfect lace.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sequined lace. Who would have thought she would have fallen in love with it. She loves to keep things simple and sequins was one of her big "NO's" on her list. Everything about this lace was perfect for her. </div>

PATTERN REVIEW:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: center;">I used <a href="http://voguepatterns.mccall.com/v8766-products-15146.php?page_id=857">Vogue Pattern V8766</a> as a starting point for this dress. I liked not having to start from scratch because I had about a month to sew it and only less than a hand full of days to fit her in it, YIKES! I live in another state so it totally made things interesting... I give this pattern a B+ because I hated the darts in the sleeves, they squared out pretty weird and never looked quite right... at least with the sequined fabric we used. So I made a new sleeve pattern. Over all it was a great pattern to start with!</span></div>

I have abandoned my post for a while (sorry); no inspiration = no blogging. So, I have since taken a few ceramic classes, bought a new gorgeous home, packed, unpacked, trying to find a new niche for myself, and have started sewing on my sister's wedding gown. Then realized I might actually have a little something to add to my little blogging journal of chic ideas... so I hope.<br />
